A few months ago Kelly and her dad Chris come over to see Edward. We had a great time - they mentioned that the reception was planned in Ripley so we drove down there together. Chris was very interested in Edward as he had spent his life working in Engineering and appreciated the magnificent design and reliabiloity of those Sunbeam engineers 80 years ago. So finally the wedding day arrived and Edward and I collected Kelly and Chris from Kelly's house in Egham. The scene was superb with all the family gathered - including Kelly's lovely 3 year old daughter Molly. I helped Kelly's brother with Edward's spare ribbons to decorate his car for the bridesmaids - then we set off for Weybridge Register Office. After taking down the hood I had a chat with the other drivers outside - learning about the tough times in traditional chauffeur hire and airport runs. One chap had switched totally to weddings with his nice fleet of Mercedes E class saloons. It was amusing to see the looks on the faces of other brides when they saw Edward - oh well, next time! The pictures with Edward were a success as usual however the journey to Ripley started as a nightmare in the rush hour traffic. Faced with prospect of a crawl in traffic jams all along Byfleet Road we went via Pyrford instead - this was a great success as we escaped into the lovely Surrey countryside away from the traffic. Kelly and Russell sipped champers in the back and chatted all the way - it was lovely. At the Talbot Hotel more pictures and then the party started - it was lovely to see such a happy family starting their new life.
